About This Session

Designing a strong accessory requires more than coming up with an interesting shape or sketch. Every decision, from concept and materials to proportion, function, and finishing, contributes to whether an idea ultimately works as a product and within a larger collection.

In this interactive small group session, Balmain accessories designer Lucien Isidor will help participants think through the process of developing an accessory from an initial idea into a more considered and cohesive design.

Come prepared to share a sketch, concept, current project, or a challenge you are working through. It could be a question about developing your initial idea, choosing materials, refining proportions, balancing creativity with functionality, creating variations, or making sure a design fits within the broader direction of a collection. Lucien will use participants’ real questions and projects to guide the conversation and offer practical feedback.

You will also hear what other emerging designers are developing and learn from the different approaches, decisions, and challenges discussed in the room. No finished design is required.

Bring an idea or question and leave with a clearer understanding of how to develop, refine, and move your accessory concept forward.

It runs as a 60-minute group session with Lucien Isidor, held over video with up to 10 peers working on the same thing.

Come with a question you want answered. Lucien Isidor keeps the group small so everyone gets time, and you will hear what other people are working through too.
