Mentors cannot accept payment to advise users on obtaining grants, jobs, contracts, casting decisions, admissions, or other opportunities that the mentor personally evaluates or can materially influence.

What a session looks like

Every mentor runs their sessions a little differently, but most conversations follow a structure like this.

Getting oriented
You'll discuss where you are in your styling journey, the kind of work you want to do, and the challenges you're currently facing.
Next 20 min
Portfolio & aesthetic review
Your mentor will review your styling work, mood boards, or recent shoots and give direct feedback on your taste level, visual identity, and how your work is presented.
Next 20 min
Industry strategy
You may discuss assisting established stylists, building relationships with photographers and brands, editorial vs commercial work, and how stylists actually get hired.
Last 10 min
Clarifying direction
You'll use the final part of the session to reflect on the discussion and clarify a few areas you may want to focus on next.

TalentED FAQ

How does payment work?
Your card is authorised at checkout but not charged until the mentor confirms your session. If they decline or don't respond, the hold is released automatically and you're never billed.
When will my session be confirmed?
Mentors typically confirm within 24–48 hours. You'll receive an email the moment your booking is approved, along with the session link or location details.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
You can cancel or reschedule from your bookings dashboard. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the session receive a full refund. Within 24 hours, please reach out to support@talented.nyc.
How do sessions take place?
Sessions are either video (via Zoom) or in-person, depending on the mentor's availability settings. The format is shown when you select a time slot.
Is my information secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe — TalentED never stores your card details. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
What do I get after the session?
Every session includes a personalised summary and clear next steps sent to your email within 48 hours of the session completing.
